Art: "a superior skill that you can learn by study, practice and observation"

ARTIS is a network of rural artisans, scientists, and engineers who aim to provide life-changing, fun, affordable and practical short courses in the southwest of the UK.

ARTIS provides a curriculum for learning the practical skills required for sustainable living.

ARTIS is based in South Devon, and holds events and courses on farms, smallholdings, schools and colleges.

Our courses are arranged throughout the year according to the seasons. You can look here for current events.

They include: building your own wind turbine, water pump or solar water heater, sustainability in bushcraft, wildfood foraging & many biology and ecology science subjects.

Activities often involve the whole family through an inter-disciplinary approach.

Different tutors and course leaders run a varied curriculum of short courses to suit the broad spectrum of sciences and rural arts connected to sustainability.

We are a not for profit association and we receive no funding for our training courses, therefore all our short courses are funded solely from the course fees.

If you have any queries about the our Short courses, or enquire about hosting an event, please do not hesitate to contact us.
