A Compendium of Herbs is an open source (GNU) licenced modified archive from the works of Otto Wilhelm Thomé (1840-1925) who was a German botanist and botanical artist from Cologne best known for his compendium of botanical paintings "Flora von Deutschland, Österreich und der Schweiz in Wort und Bild für Schule und Haus"
(Flora of Germany, Austria and Switzerland in Text and Image for School and Home).

These images have been modified by Paul Dobson of ARTIS. The images have been cleaned up and now include the common english names, and the current Latin Scientific names according to modern understanding of taxonomy since the advent of DNA profiling.

The GNU Free Documentation License permits that you may copy, distribute and/or modify these documents so long as all work appended to these documents is acknowledged.

The Honeycomb Community Farm Project is a community interest company. Our assets of land, buildings,tools etc can never be sold for the profits of the directors, ever! They are protected by an "asset lock" which means any land we purchase will always belong to the community we serve! So all land bought for community farms will be held in "perpetuity" which means it will always be a community farm/orchard/allotment.

Rudolf Steiner School South Devon is a co-educational school for 3 to 16 year olds, educating the whole child through hand, heart and mind. The School has its own comprehensive and distinctive curriculum and teaching method for pupils up to 16. This curriculum is based on a pedagogical philosophy that places emphasis on the whole development of the child, including a child's spiritual, physical and moral well being as well as academic progress.

Naturekidz encourages families and young people to utilise their local community woodlands and open spaces and engage in positive, hands-on, learning experiences through imaginative interactive play and practical forest school activities. Practical activities such as den building, campfire cookery and green woodworking encourage individuals to initiate learning for themselves and develop skills.


Earthed are artists and builders who create sustainable structures specialising in cob, roundpole timber frame, lime and stonework.
Earthed undertake private and funded projects, run educational workshops and do renovation and repair work.

SPARC is a community-based charity that raises awareness of recycling, sustainability and green issues through creative environmental education. Using innovative ideas and exciting materials, SPARC provides experiential opportunities for both children and adults to enjoy themselves and further their development.

TEPEE (Teignbridge Play Network) is a charity which evolved in 1995 and operates in the Teignbridge area of Devon. TEPEE exists to support community led children's play activities, particularly in rural areas. TEPEE offers help and support though an enabling community development approach which aims to stimulate interest and involvement in play and is followed up with training and support. TEPEE co-ordinates play opportunities, and provides advice, including access to funding - to enable groups to grow and expand, improve their quality and provide affordable play provisions throughout the Teignbridge area.


The South Devon AONB provides a popular setting for traditional leisure pursuits of walking, hiking, horse-riding, sailing, rowing, angling, beach-going, surfing and birdwatching. There is also a growing generation of active and technical pursuits such as mountain biking, coasteering, diving, canoeing, rock climbing, parascending, hang-gliding and kite-surfing.
